Hi! I'm back, all in one piece and none worse for the wear from my trip out west. And....guess what? I didn't come back sick. That is amazing considering that each time I go somewhere I come back sick or I get sick within a few hours of landing. I used a TON of hand sanitizer and did a lot of hand washing so that may have contributed to my wellness :)

On to the frivolity......

Holly brought Miss Phoebe with her to the airport in Los Angeles to pick me up. How adorable is she?

It had been almost a year since we had seen each other. We were two (three!) happy girls!

Friday morning we were off to Downtown Los Angeles to the Garment District to do some buying. I found some wonderful supplies to design with. I felt like I was on Squirrel Alert the whole day down there.....not knowing where to look since everywhere you DID look there was something wonderful......

Holly took me to one of her favorite trim shops. We both chose some gorgeous trims.

See the walls to the right full of boxes? They were all FULL with wonderful trims and treasures. It's rare that I want to punch someone but there was a lady (customer) in this store that was SO rude and being a Bossy Bessie. I had to restrain myself. Twice. I don't know where people's manners have gone. Straight down the can I presume.

I am still swooning over this orange lace and orange organza with sequins trim.

We met up with our lovely friend Cynthia for lunch at Tiara Cafe. The food was amazing. I tried food over the last week that I would have turned my nose up at prior to my trip. I was proud of myself...especially for eating things that I had no idea what they were. More than once I had to ask Holly what something was. I was also proud that I didn't end up in the ER with amoebic dysentery.

Tiara Cafe was just the cutest place so full of little crazy things.....

7 hours later our bags were overloaded with all kinds of treasures. I don't think I have walked that much in ages. My dogs were barking.

Me: "Look Honey ......I picked this fabulous couch up while I was out there. It was only $399."

Him: "Oh.....that is really YOU. How is it getting here?"

Me: "Carrier pigeon. I am having it shipped Silly."

Him: "How much was the shipping?"

Me: "$525.00"

Just then all the color drained out of his face.

Wait for it.....wait for it....

Me: "Gotcha! You know I would never pay that much for shipping. Plus, it's not orange or black."

Him: "I have said it before and I will say it again. You were put on this earth for my amusement."

Glad I am good for something. *shrug*

One of the Mini's (Olivia) was being fussy today. She squeaked a couple of times like someone was hurting her. I just thought she was being her normal Divalicious self and made her sit down. Turns out she did have a boo-boo. Her little curly nail on her inside leg had broken down into the quick. I am feeling really horrid that I thought she was just being her normal fussy self. She's a little drama Queen most the time. This will teach me to check her out ears to tail next time. I cleaned it, put antibiotic ointment on it and bandaged her up. I will probably have to take her to the Vet on Monday and have him remove the rest of the nail. Owwie. She's milking it though, believe me.

I had a lot of people to enter this time that did not have Blogs but had Facebook pages so I am still doing my drawings the old fashioned way.....writing down the names and putting them in my magic box and drawing one out. I am old school that way. Word.

On to girlie stuff. Last week Elf had a special. If you ordered $25.00 worth of product, you got this fabulous 144 piece Ultimate Eye Shadow Palette collection for FREE.....yes, I said FREE. It came today and there are some really fantastic fun colors in this palette. I love their shadows because they are super pigmented. The color you see is the color you get when you put it on. I already had 4 of their singles and really loved them.

My daughter is getting married in May and I will be doing everyone's makeup for the wedding so I knew this would be perfect to travel with and would have something for everyone's tastes. This is a limited edition palette. It's not offered for free any more (that was only a special last week) BUT...... it IS 50% off. The regular price is $30.00 but you can get it for $15.00. Last week I ran out of my gel eyeliner. I am trying the two Elf cream liners above. The top one is "Golden" and the one on the bottom is "Teal Tease". I will give you guys the deets on these after I try them. I have been using Bobbi Brown gel liners for years. Bobbi Brown Gel liners are $21.00 each. These were $3.00 each. That's a HUGE savings. I am keeping my fingers crossed that they will be fabulous.

Rock Star/Badarssery Status

The Commander has totally reached Rock Star/Badarssery Status. Not only did he buy me a new computer this past week to replace the one that went Rigor Mortis on me, he surprised me with these......

If you are a gamer or have kids that are gamers then you know that these Call of Duty Bullets are the Rolls Royce of earphones. He wanted me to be able to watch movies on my laptop during my long arse flight next week. I pink puffy heart Southwest Air for having a non-stop flight to LA but let's be real....they don't have in flight movies and they don't serve food on their flights either. He knows I am a fidgeter and don't like to be still unless I am entertained. I am not complaining though. My flight was dirt cheap and also they don't charge for luggage. I am hoping to score an aisle seat close to the loo. I don't want to be stuck at the window for sure. I will need to wander a bit during my travel.

See the above pic? I really like these because you choose your Bullet size so it will fit in your ear. I can't tell you how many earphones I have had that were waaaaaaaaaaay too big for the holes in my jacked up, abnormally sized small ears. In my humble opinion I think the he got them because of the following:

1. The graphics on the box.

2. The "hollow points" inside.

3. For my trip so I can watch a movies on my non-stop flight to LA next week.

4. So I can watch crap on my laptop when he's watching his war stuff on the TV and I don't drown his programs out. (we like to be together watching stuff even if we don't like the same stuff....yea, I know....nauseating)

5. Just because.

6. He threw away a bag of stuff I needed and feels bad about it.

He even baked a pound cake yesterday.

Oh Man....Rigor Mortis

Insane people.....always insane goings on at Casa de Chaos.

1st things first. I am off restriction (as of Monday) and can now resume my normal frivolity. I still have a little bit of soreness from my appendectomy but otherwise I am good to go. I celebrated that day by taking a little shopping trip with my gift cards to get some much needed clothes. I can't tell you how much I pink puffy heart after Christmas sales. All these smoking deals got me a few things that I am over the moon about. One being this amazing tiered ruffle all weather coat to take on my trip to LA next week. This price was INSANE. This coat had been $178.00. I paid $29.80 for it. How insane was that?

I got back home from my haul and signed on to my computer to do some graphics work and it promptly took a dirt nap. I realized it was in Def Con 4 mode when it hacked up a hairball, gave a noise that sounded strangely like someone that had extremely bad gas and then she died. The Commander can fix anything. He's a whiz at anything computer related so I knew this was bad when he couldn't fix it.

Guts

Both legs of this computer were in the air. Rigor mortis set in quickly. *sigh* This was my third computer to die in the last 5 years (mind you, every one I have had was brand new). Tangentially I might add that I don't sling them around, swing them from chandeliers, jump on them, eat crap over them, etc so I am not sure why I have such bad luck with them. I have been through HP, Gateway and Dell. POS, all of 'em. Whatevs.

The Commander told me yesterday to get my caboose ready because we were going on a little field trip. When we wheeled into the parking lot of Best Buy an hour later I had a grin as wide as the Rio Grande on my face.

Meeeeeeeep! I got a new computer from Best Buy. This one is a Toshiba Satellite so only time will tell if it's a POS too. I am just thankful I got a new one. My business totally depends on me having a computer so I don't know what I would do without one. Thank you teenie tiny little Baby Jesus that I am now back in the saddle. We are not sure if we will be able to recover anything from my old hard drive. That remains to be seen. Thank you so much to my darling husband that is SO incredibly supportive of my art for seeing that I have what I need to be able to work (and of course Blog!).

Shoving a Kleenex Up My Nose

I am sitting in my bed with a Kleenex shoved up one side of my nose. I will spare you the photo though. However....I did include the photo above of a piece I just finished yesterday. Every piece on this design was created with all vintage elements...right down to the clasp (which I forgot to photo). I am not sure what it is but I seem to do my best work when I am sick as a dog.

A sore throat and fever has now turned into a full blown bad cold. The kind that you have to walk around with a Kleenex shoved up your nostrils. The kind where your eyes are red as the devil, watering and basically feel like they are going to pop right out of your head. Meh.

Too bad I don't have an audition today for a horror movie.

My studio is a mess.

It looks like Beelzebub has come in there and wreaked havoc. It's been a mess since the night I went into the hospital a couple of weeks ago for my emergency appendectomy when I was in the middle of starting to clean it out. Today I got my cabinet cleaned and organized with my crepe paper, tulle and ribbon so that is at least progress.

On the upside, no dogs have yacked in the last 12 hours.

On the downside, guess who's now feeling like she's swallowing razor blades?

Yack, Yack and More Yack . . . .What Holiday?

I am not sure how Olivia can look so cute after yacking.

She's sooooooooooo adorable.

I think we skipped right over Christmas and New Years at our house. Not much merriment to be had. We did fun things like clean up yack, wash a lot of towels and cooked a lot of rice and held puppies while they slept.

Christmas Eve Day.

8am, Vivienne started yacking.

2 hours later Madeline started in with diarrhea.

The Commander was cooking up a mess of rice for the wee ones since dog food was out of the question.

Christmas Day.

Babie woke us up at 3:20am yacking. This continued a couple of more times during the day. More rice cooking.

The Day After Christmas.

Olivia (who mind you had already started yacking on Christmas Eve) gets up in my face at 3:10am fussing and shivering. I know it's coming. Yep, she was getting ready to yack. I got her off the bed just in time. Thank heavens she yacked on my hardwood floor and not my beautiful rugs. More rice cooking ensued.

Here we are a few days after Christmas and we are waiting for the next round of yack to start.

4 down, 3 to go.....just wondering which dog will start yacking next. The Commander and I both bet it will be Tommy.

Are You Kidding Me????

I am up this morning painting sea urchins. Lots of pretty ones. All colors......with a tiny sprinkling of Diamond Dust....sooooooooo pretty. I have several different projects planned for these but you must wait to see :)

The Commander is in the kitchen cooking up a storm. We had to scoot out yesterday to pick up a few extra things for his baking today. I popped in the store while he waited in the Mini Hearse with Harlow. He said while I was in the store a lady got out of her vehicle, yanked a kid out of the back seat, put the kid on a port-a-potty and then dumped the contents of the potty right out in the parking lot....wee, poo, toilet paper and all. Oh man....and I thought I was messed up. What is wrong with people? There were at least 2 bathrooms right there close to the parking lot. *shaking my head*

I picked up this new nail polish yesterday too. It's not too pretty to most people but I love it. It's an odd color....kind of like a grayish putty. It's by Essie and called Chinchilly. Kinda reminds me of dead things. Go figure.

Just a quickie....don't bother buying Laura Mercier's Long Lash Mascara. It's the worst ever in my book. I had received a deluxe sample of this in my VIB pack from Sephora and it was terrible. It was dry, didn't go on well and within just a few minutes it was flaking off horribly. I had flecks of this crap all under my eyes. At $24.00 a tube I am NOT wasting my money on this. I am all for trying something new but this went directly in file 13. Meh.

Today I am painting in my pj's, watching movies and working on my February piece for SpookyTime Jingles. The smells coming from the kitchen are heavenly. I don't know what the Commander is cooking and baking but I am thinking I am going to have to wander in there soon.

Ciggie Butts and Food Porn

The Commander took me to brunch yesterday and it was fabulous to get out of the house for a bit. Cabin fever had set in big time. We ended up at a Cracker Barrel (my choice only because I wanted to futz around in their little gift shop for jammie pants which I did not find) Meh.

The idiot (and I don't use this term loosely) in this vehicle threw a cigarette out the window still smoldering and right beside DRY grass. They are very lucky that I erased their license plate number out of this picture so as someone could not hunt them down and send them a nasty gram about littering. I should be SO gracious, right? If you wanna smoke, it's ok but keep your butts to yourself! It always infuriates me to see people doing this. Made me want to get out of our vehicle, take the ciggie butt and toss it back through her window. The Commander didn't think it was a good idea. I did though.

Eeeeeeeeeeeeek! Time for food porn.......

The Commander was chowing down on all this goodness. Eggs, bacon, sausage, country ham, apples and hash brown casserole. Ughhhhhhhh, I can already feel my arteries clogging up.

This was my wee piece of country ham I pilfered off the Commander's plate. Let's just say that I was like a camel the rest of the day chugging liquids. This ham was SO salty but OMG, heavenly!

Happy Happy me wandering through the little shop inside Cracker Barrel. Lawd I was glad to get out of the house. Did I mention I was happy to be out?

After brunch we scooted over to the Outlets close by so the Commander could get a few things at the Old Navy Outlet. This was the cutest little coffee/cupcake/ice cream shop outside Old Navy. I would just love to have something like this in my back yard where I could put all my art in until it sells. It was like a little mini house. Of course, mine would be all done out in black, orange and white :)

No time to be naughty today since the Big Man comes tomorrow night.

I'm behaving.

Being Good Is For The Birds . . .

My trip to Los Angeles has been re booked and I am all set to go in a few weeks. That is ONLY if I behave. The Commander said he's not fooling around with me hopping about and getting back to my frivolity any sooner than what the Doc said I could soooooooooo looks like I have no choice.

I got to talk to all my Cali girls on Skype tonight so that was major fun. Even though I missed the party there will be more fun to be had in a few weeks when I will be headed their way. Thank you tiny little Baby Jesus that Southwest does not charge for re booking flights. I pink puffy heart Southwest.

In that I am grounded for a bit more during my recovery from that nasty appendectomy, I have been reduced to things of this nature......

3 Steals and The Mini's Holiday Attire

Giddy over this. $148.00 for only $8.00.

Whilst out on our trip over for my post appendectomy check up the Commander had to stop at a grocery store and pick up a few things (a few things turned into $103.40 worth....the man is deadly in a grocery store) and I was supposed to wait in the car since I am not supposed to be prancing about yet. BUT....guess what I spied across the street from the grocery? A Thrift Store!!! This one was where all the upper echelon peeps live so I knew there would be good stuff in there. I told the Commander I would walk slowly (and yes, I jaywalked. I just wanted to keep from walking a whole block since I was not supposed to be out futzing around in the first place) and not stay in there long. Against his ~~orders~~ better judgment, I went.

MAJOR SCORE....This sweater jacket above (really thick and super warm) still had the original tag on it. It had never been worn. It's from some foofey foofey shop called Talbots. The price on the tag was $148.00 and I got it for $8.00. Best part is, it's an orangey/pumpkin color. I also scored two turtlenecks (brand new also) for $2.00 each. I am majorly loving thrift stores right now. This is going to look fabulous with this gorgeous scarf my darling friend Earleen recently sent me....

The Mini's went and got their holiday grooming and are adorable. Their little attire didn't last too long since they love dragging each other around by anything put on them but I did get a couple of photos of them before these were yanked off.....

She's The Wrong Alice . . .

Things got SO crazy after my trip to SC to see my girlie friend Toni that I didn't have time to post a couple of fabulous finds I used some gift cards on that I brought home while Toni and I were out and about doing some shopping. I know I promised and totally forgot about it so here we go:

Next up...I LOVED these little short boots and I thought how perfect would these be to wear when it's chilly. My freddies do NOT like shoes period so that I why I wear flip flops 365 days a year for the most part but it's a real pain when it's cold. These are easy to get on and off and they are SO comfy. They are like walking on marshmallows. LOVE.

Yesterday I had to go for my first post-op appointment for the Surgeon to give me a once over since my appendectomy last week. IF you missed what happened, you can go here and catch up.

My Surgeon (Mr. Gilbert Gottfried look-alike) that took my appendix out came in the exam room yesterday that I was waiting patiently in, took one look at me and said "sorry, I have the wrong room"....I hear him outside the exam room door tell the nurse that she gave him the wrong patient. Poor woman. I am in there sitting on the exam table snickering knowing what is going on. The poor man didn't recognize me from last week (which I didn't expect him to since he's probably operated on a gazillion peeps since last week). Last Tuesday night when he operated on me I had on no makeup and no wig. Poor man. No Makeup and No Wig = LuLu blending into the woodwork. Yes, I am one of those girls that if I don't have on makeup or a wig, you would NOT know who the fig I was unless I opened my mouth and you could hear the drawl. That's a dead giveaway. I am very fair complected. Bland is the word I use so makeup is my friend. He was funny though and said he remembered me wearing my crocheted cloche with the flower on the side. Pretty observant I say.

I got a A on my report card for behaving myself over the last week but have 3 more weeks of behaving. Whatevs.....I do what I gotta do to. I just don't do well with rules. Meh.

I am a little bit sad this morning since today was the day I was supposed to fly to Los Angeles to spend time with my gal pal Holly and the California girls. I was due to stop in Denver on the way to home to visit with my other gal pals Valarie, Laurie and Maija too. However.....now that I know when I can travel, I will be re booking my trip today.

Things happen for a reason and I am really glad my appendix decided to go toxic when it did because in diagnosing my little Alien they found I have some issue with my ascending Aorta (apparently it's bulging out on the sides in a particular area.) I have an appointment with my Primary Care Physician on Monday to start dealing with whatever that issue is. People....this is why it's SO important to look after your health! *wagging finger* Make that appointment for your annual physical! Hopefully this is something that is being caught early and can be treated easily. Fingers crossed. *Straightening my skirt and hopping off the podium*

I am waiting patiently in my nest for the Commander to bring me my first cup of coffee and I can smell it wafting up the back staircase.....ahhhhhhhhhh!

Yea, I know I could get my own coffee every morning but I kind like this pampering thing too much.

On The Mend

And I thought it was just gas or my gallbladder.

Meh.

If you read the previous post you know that I had a nasty appendix that had to come out of hiding. Let me tell you people....it was like the creature from Alien doing a version of Riverdance inside my guts. Nasty little bugger.

Thank you tiny little Baby Jesus that the surgeon on call at the hospital I was taken to had a sense of humor. I thought a celebrity had wandered in my bay in the ER. The surgeon on call that came in to talk to me about my little alien looked just like comedian Gilbert Gottfried. I told this doc to be careful with my rearranged guts from my gastric bypass from last year when he was in there getting said nasty appendix out. He said I was bossy but in a good way :) I am assuming my rearranged guts made out fine and he was able to get that disgusting thing out before it ruptured.

When I was in my primary care physicians office on Tuesday prior to her sending me to the ER, she wanted to call an ambulance to have me transported to the ER but I nixed that idea quick. I told her I was getting in my car, going back home to get the Commander and THEN I would go to the ER to be admitted. I was NOT going to any hospital without him. Probably not the best decision I have ever made but at that time it worked for me and I am none worse for the wear.

The surgeon did find it rather odd when I asked him if I could have my appendix in a jar of formaldehyde post surgery. (see Ked...great minds think alike!!!) He must not have taken me seriously because I didn't get it. Meh. (I can just see you all shaking your heads right now). Being one that is always calm, cool and collected I did freak out a little bit right before being wheeled into the OR so I needed a sedative. On being wheeled into the OR (fully relaxed from the sedative) I could have sworn I saw the little doll Eddie Munster used to tote around from The Munsters standing in the corner of the operating room. Must have been the drugs dripping through my IV. *shrug* My anesthesiologist looked like Peter Arness (Graves) (you know, the old dude from Mission Impossible) and right before he put me under he said "now think of something really nice you like....what are you going to think about?"...my OR nurse told me I said "Dead Things". They got a good laugh out of that one.

Due to these unforeseen circumstances my trip to Los Angeles this Thursday has been postponed until after the first of the year. Doctor Doctor said no traveling right now as I have about a 3 week recovery period. Meanie.

On the way back home I wanted to look at Christmas decorations/lights in my Morphine induced stupor (well, at least they wanted me comfy for the ride home) . . .

Would have LOVED to have stopped in this shop. The Commander didn't think it was necessary since I was not walking a straight line.

Ooooo...columns with stripey tights!

This house was beautiful....again, I am hanging out the window of the mini hearse taking pics on the way home from the hospital. Go figure.

For now I have plenty of furry friends to snuggle with to keep me toasty.....

Some that are bed hogs . . . .

Some that are just waiting for a tiny morsel of a little treat from my plate . . . . .

There are games to be played and

movies to be watched . . . . .

There are visitors in my bed . . . .

. . . that are remote stealers! So much for watching what I want on TV or the DVD player :) I think my silly Marie has the upper hand.

And last but not least, how could I NOT show you the myriad of lovely bracelets I acquired in the hospital. I am assuming the need for all these bracelets is to let the staff know you are a walking accident waiting to happen.

OK, back to laying in the bed eating Bon-Bons (sugar free of course), swilling coffee, reading trashy magazines, watching movies and just lollygagging until I get the go ahead to resume my ~~abnormal~~ normal activities and get back to my ~~cranky~~ gracious self. I say this as I am laying here in my nest wearing my cupcake bathrobe and vintage tiara. Yea, I know....they didn't have a bathrobe with skulls on it. Meh.

Hi Ghouls and Dolls :) It's been a busy last week. I was off in South Carolina visiting my girlie friend Toni and her wonderful family. Toni is the proprietor of Sugar Cookie Dolls. She is a fabulous Artist so if you have not visited her Etsy shop, run, don't walk. I love her ornaments! We had such a wonderful time but it was over with way too fast. *sigh* Her girls were just delightful and she's got the sweetest husband. I swear my sides are still hurting from all the giggling we did!

I don't know why my camera was taking some grainy pictures but I love this pic of us. We look like we are in a teeth whitening commercial. I dropped my camera on the asphalt and now it has a hairline fracture on the screen. It's my travel camera and not expensive (thank goodness). I have learned to leave my good camera at home. Guess what Santa might be bringing me?

This is Mr. Turtles. He is a life sized doll that is in Toni's kitchen. If I could have crammed him in my suitcase and brought him back, I would have. He cracks me up. Especially since they put sunglasses and the Santa hat on him.

We had dinner at this awesome restaurant called Flight Deck and the food was awesome. I had the pot roast and it was to die for.

We were then off to look at some Christmas lights. This man had tons of cutouts in his yard. Apparently he does these all himself....cuts them out and then paints them.

OK......you all are very aware when any trip that involves me getting on an aircraft will have a story to it. Going down to Atlanta to catch my puddle jumper over to Columbia was easy peasy. In one word, boring. My return leg of the trip was a little more not so boring. Said puddle jumper was due to leave at 5:05pm. We ended up leaving at 5:35pm with no explanation as to why we were late leaving.

I get into the Atlanta airport knowing it was going to be close making my connecting flight and I head over to the shuttle that takes you to the other concourses and got on the wrong one. I am such a dingbat. I did make my flight though just by skin of my teeth.

The flight back was so loud (meaning the peeps on there) and of course, we all boarded on time but did not take off on time. Still sitting there patiently waiting were a few of us that had not started partaking in adult beverages yet. Those that had seemed to be making things merry and bright their own way. I am assuming these die hards must have been partying in one of the airport bars prior to boarding. You would not believe the way the passengers in First Class left that area....food thrown on the floor, cups, magazines, etc....it looked like a Frat House party up in there. I felt really sorry for those flight attendants that had to go in and clean up after those idiots.

After touching down at my airport we ended up on the tarmac for 30 minutes before being allowed to pull up to our gate. Apparently there was a little mishap with a cargo van close to our gate. I see those things zipping around out there sometimes like it's the Indy 500 so that didn't surprise me.

Off to my nest as I feel like I am swallowing razor blades and ache all over. I did get my flu shot so I don't know what this crud is I have picked up. I will assume it was from the man across the isle from me on my flight home that kept sneezing without covering his mouth. G-ross.

My buddy Ked over at Something wicKED This Way Comes posted about this cool new gadget called the Light Keeper Pro. Take a look....it truly works and will probably pay for itself after a few uses since it will keep you from having to replace strands of lights. I can't tell you how many strands I threw in the trash last week. *sigh* We went in search of one yesterday but were unsuccessful at finding one so hopefully the Commander can locate one this week. Thanks Ked for posting about this!

Yep, I did have some colorful language coming out of my orifice earlier. 1 - because some of our strands are bum and 2.....because we could not find the Light Keeper Pro in 3 different stores.

A Fabulous Find . . .Tarina Tarantino's Pearl Glow Primer

I have another find I gotta share. This is a rocking product. It's Tarina Tarantino's Pearl Glow primer. My skin was looking a little flat and I think that the cooler weather has had something to do with it. I just mix a little bit of this with my foundation and it really gives my skin a nice glow......see?

This is with NO highlighting powder. Only the Pearl Glow. Love Love Love this product! You can find it here on Sephora.

Before I forget, the Hard Candy Glamoflauge concealer I posted about here get's a TRIPLE THUMBS UP. It works. It's $6.00 a tube and you can get it at Walmart. They used to sell this brand at Sephora but I have not seen it there in ages. Anywhoooooooo, it rocks and I will be using it from now on. The Dior brand I was using was expensive and with this one working better than Dior, I'm sold.

We are getting ready to decorate 5 trees in our house. Insane.

Carnival in a Box . . .

Have you ever bought anything and forgot you had it? I bought these Pin Up Couture shoes back in August for a show I had in September (isn't the packaging super cute?) When they came they were too small so I had to send them back and get another size. They didn't come before my show so I had to do an alternative. They came a couple of weeks afterwards and I shoved them in my closet and forgot about them until I was purging my closet last night of all the clothes I have that are now too big again. The Commander had put his combat boots on top of them so no wonder I didn't see them. Note to the Commander: Honey, keep your stuff on your side of the closet. I am easily confused.

I call them my "Carnival in a Box" shoes. Note to self: better practice walking in them first (4 inches...YIKES..seems I missed that part of the description but at 75% off that didn't seem to be important at the time). I certainly could acquire a job as a Barker now.

I will blow a kiss from the ER when I end up there with a sprained ankle.

Creamer Insanity and a GASP Recipe . . . . .

Yes, this is actually in my fridge. I know. It's insane. I don't think we will be running out of creamer anytime soon. I just wish that all these wonderful flavors were available year round. A little splash of one of these in my coffee makes for a great start to the day.

On to a little Love . . . . .

I can't say how much I love diversity. It's what makes our world go 'round and makes life so much more interesting to me. Thanks for all your visits and comments on my Blog. As promised, here is the recipe to my casserole that I make once a year. I know....I actually cook once a year. Shocking.

Sausage and Egg Casserole

1 pound of sausage

6 eggs

2 cups of milk

1 teaspoon of salt

4-6 slices of bread

1 cup of cheddar cheese

Brown your sausage and set aside.

In an 11x7 baking dish that has been greased, tear up your slices of bread and lay them in the bottom of the baking dish.

Beat together your eggs, milk and salt and cheese and pour this over your bread that you have already torn up and put into the baking dish.

Pinch off pieces of the sausage and drop them randomly throughout the mixture in the dish.

Cover and refrigerate for about 8 hours. I usually prepare this right before going to bed so it will be ready to bake in the morning.

Next morning you will preheat your oven to 350 and you will bake this uncovered for 40 minutes. About 2-3 minutes before it’s ready to come out sometimes I will put a little bit more of grated cheese on the top.

This fellow would be glad to assist or supervise......

Again, my cooking equates to the State Opening of Parliament....it happens once a year and always under supervision. *wink*

What a difference a year makes. The picture on the left was taken at Silver Bella in Omaha in November of last year. The picture on the right was just the other day. If you missed my story on my journey you can read it here. It's been a quick year. I continue to be thankful every day for my progress and my good health. I have 7 more pounds to loose and it's Kicking. My. Arse. The light is at the end of the tunnel so I am almost ready to hop off this train.

Even though I have now lost my hair and am now wearing wigs, I am making it fun :) My physician concludes it's probably the onset of alopecia since most patients that have gastric bypass only have minor hair loss post surgery and mine is more than minor. Since I was bald during my chemo it's not such a shock to not have hair. I am loving my wigs though. Additionally, I am having a serious addiction to hairbands and think I may need an intervention......

This is hairband #9. This one had a retail price of $15.00 still on the tag but I found it in the Dollar Store. Yes, the Dollar Store. Hairbands, flavored creamers and Caffeine Free Diet Pepsi are my guilty pleasures. It could be worse though, right? I am working on designing one right now that has feathers. No turkey feathers though. Tee hee!

How could I resist this cute plaid one too?.....(yes, Dollar Store!) It matches the wig so this one was a no-brainer.

The Commander is getting ready to start cooking this morning.....and.....*GASP* I will be preparing my Thanksgiving morning breakfast casserole later on this afternoon (recipe to come on the next post). I know, shocking.

Day 3 - Vertigo Still At Bay . . .

Three days now and no Vertigo. I might be on a roll. Let's hope.

I totally forgot to post some of my haul from where the Commander and Moi were out on a jaunt the other day. Thanks to you that emailed and wanted to know what I got, I'm posting. Ya'll are some nosey people. You are in good company though because this girl is nosey too.

Seriously. Major Old Navy T-shirt Love. I am over trying sweaters on and here comes The Commander with this t-shirt in his hand waving it like it's a flag flying off the top of the Chrysler Building.

The Commander: "Look....it was $14.94 and now it's $3.47.

Me: (Promptly snatching it out of his hand)...."Who cares what the price is, it's orange!" Duh. (by this time I am squealing like a girl at a Justin Bieber concert). *snicker*

Godiva Coffee at the Pepperidge Farm Outlet. $4.25 (regular price, $12.50) No, it wasn't old, I smelled it. I have a sniffer that works like a Bloodhound's.

Ran out of YSL Touche Eclat so I am trying this concealer by Hard Candy called Glamoflauge. It says "heavy duty" on it. I will open it tomorrow and try it. Until then, the jury is still out but will give you the deets on it if it works.

I don't know how this will translate on your screen but it's red. I know, red eyeshadow sounds/looks ghastly but it's actually pretty on. It was at one of the cosmetic outlets that carry the high end stuff and was 80% off retail. Major score. Me likey.

We have a routine every morning. The Commander gets up, turns on the news channel on the TV in our room for me and then he takes all 7 of the babies out for the morning wee and poo show. They all get fed and he starts the coffee. Within about 10 minutes I can smell said coffee wafting up the hidden staircase. He does the same thing every morning....yells up the back stairs asking me what flavored creamer I want in my coffee. Yes, we have that many that he needs to ask. It would make you sick to see how many creamers we have in our fridge. 9 times out of 10 I say "Surprise me" You would think after 5 years he would just put whatever he wanted in there without asking but that's how he rolls. Then he comes upstairs with my first cup of hot coffee and one of his delicious pumpkin and oat muffins so I can sit in bed, sip coffee, nosh on my muffin, watch the news, read my email and make lists of what I need to do that day....ALL this whilst two Pomeranians treat my bed like a trampoline. *boing boing boing*

I need a camcorder so he can video this scenario one morning. That would make for good Blog material.

It's FREEZING this morning and I don't want to get out of my nest. If you have been reading my Blog for any amount of time you know that we live in a 114 year old Victorian. It does not have heat up on the second floor where we sleep at night. For the most part, the heating rising during the day makes the second floor bearable. We have a fabulous bed cover and a ceramic heater that I call Ricky Martin (that's a story for another day) and between those two I stay pretty toasty during the night. It's having to get OUT of the bed, teeter down the hall to the powder room (which will be even colder)to brush my teeth, etc and then get dressed for the day that makes me want to whine like a 2 year old petulant child .

For now, I am staying put and yelling down the back stairs for another cup of coffee. It's like Antarctica up in here. I swear I can see my breath. I am not moving.

I had no Vertigo yesterday and the day before so here's to hoping today will be ~~ditsy~~ dizzy free. You would not believe the amount of stuff I have been banging out the last two days. I have been a maniac. You can see the smoke coming off the top of my design table. Here's a little at peek at some of my new designs.....

The Commander and Moi ventured out yesterday to get food for the Pack (19 mile hike so it's not a quick trip) and then stopped at a few other places on the way home. I did pick up two super pretty polishes from Essie.

Which reminds me....I am in dire need of a mani and pedi right now. My hands and feet look like I have been attempting to unearth someone's coffin.

A lot has changed since then. I am 130 pounds lighter and a lot sillier. It's not my anniversary today.....just a little mush factor going on :)

No vertigo this morning so I am headed out in my studio. *fingers crossed for a non-Merry-Go-Round day*

I don't sigh over many things but this one I did. I have serious dress envy this morning. *sigh*

This is so lovely.

I have been dealing with some serious vertigo issues over the last week and a half so if I am MIA a bit that is why. This sucks eggs big time. It is cutting into my design time. I am hoping it will come to an end soon. It seems to be like an on off switch and I never know when it's going to hit. The days we have had thick fog it seems to be the worst. Also, it seems to hit more during fall and winter. Weird huh?

Weird is my normal though, right?

Many thanks to the Men and Women of the US Armed Forces.

The Commander is now retired after serving 38 years.

My thoughts go back to November of 2009 where my heart was in my throat for a few hours when The Commander was at Ft. Hood in a meeting when the devastating shootings occurred there.

This is what I still see in my closet every morning when I open the door.

His uniform, his combat boots.

A humbling reminder of his service, all that have served and all that are still serving.

I Been Batchin' It . . .

When the Commander goes out of town things tend to get a little ~~insane~~ crazier at Casa de Chaos. He jetted off to Florida (I know, I was left behind.....how did that happen???? Florida of all places! ) to see his Dad and I remained at Casa de Chaos to l~~ook after the pack~~ run the Goat Rodeo. It's ok though. He'll be running The Goat Rodeo soon because I will be headed off to Atlanta, Columbia, Los Angeles and Denver. *batting my lashes with an evil smile* Love ya Honey!

Day 1. No problem. All 7 were complete angels. (you know this will not last long) The hat on my bust in my studio is on the floor AGAIN.

Day 2. Oh boy. I first woke up to someone having an accident right at the back door (on the deck) and stepped right in it. Barefoot. I will spare you the photo of that one. The hat is off my bust again.

Day 3. I found the entire roll of toilet paper shredded up in my studio bathroom. I am not sure how this happened since we don't leave the toilet paper on the roll down there right now with the little pups still chewing on things. I am wondering if Tommy (the Labrodoodle) assisted Vivienne and Madeline in acquiring said toilet paper since he's the only one tall enough to get his head up on the counter in the bathroom. The hat is off the bust again.

Day 4. I was up 3 times during the night taking this one and that one out. They NEVER get up during the night. This is why I look a hot mess. Dark circles and all. Yves St. Laurent Touche Eclat will be my best friend today. The hat is off the bust again.

Day 5. The Internet goes out as well as the phone. Frick. The hat is off the bust again.

Day 6. My happy arse was on the way to the airport to pick him up but not before I made a slight detour for a Pumpkin Spice Latte :) If I have to make the hour and a half drive to the airport to get him then I need to be all comfy and Pumpkin Spice Latte's make me feel comfy along with super cute boots. I know I am sounding like a broken record but the hat is off the bust again. I need a motion activated camera to see what is going on in my studio at night with the hat situation.

I will be back soon after I get some much needed rest from running the Goat Rodeo solo plus I am feeling a little peckish from The Commander not being here to fix all the fabulous meals he does. The man is a regular Iron Chef. I still say he needs his own gig on the Food Network.

Next time he can't stay gone this long.

Too Faced Sweet Dreams Pallet

Busy week ghouls and dolls and I am glad it's Friday.

If you have been reading my Blog for a while you know I hoard gift certificates like there is no tomorrow. All year long. Usually right before Thanksgiving I will go use part of them. Wednesday I made the LONG trek to do some shopping. (It's an hour trek to any good shopping so that is why I normally shop online). I arrived at the mall and entered Nordstrom's TEN minutes after they opened and you would have thought it was the day after Thanksgiving. Finding a parking spot was a precious commodity. I refused to use the valet parking. I am not paying to park in a supposed public venue. It's just not happening. That is total bullshank. Of course, that is money that could be spent on art supplies. Case closed.

I found out what all the fuss was about upon entering the store. Nordstrom's was having some kind of shoe sale and there were racks and racks of shoes for over 50% off.

It was insane pandemonium. People pushing and shoving and baby strollers being run into people, kids crying and grown women acting like piranha having a feeding frenzy. I quickly got out of that store and made my beeline to Sephora.

Girls, if you are looking for a great deal, beautiful colors and fab packing (we all know it's about presentation, thank you Victoria!) and for my guy readers that have someone to buy for and she's a girly girl, this is the deal. I love this pallet above. Many thanks to my gal Stephanie over at Rose Petals and Rust for posting about this pallet. I am in love with all these colors and the names of some of them crack me up...one of them being "Label Wh*re"...I feel like I am saying a bad word and can't even type the whole thing. My Mother would have washed out my mouth with soap for saying that word.

This was another pallet I picked up by Kat Von D. It's "Art of Elysium". The color in the front on the right is to die for (not in everyone's book but mine, yes). It's black with copper and gold. I have never seen anything like it before and yes, I don't get out much obviously. Hehehe.

I also needed to return something to Forever 21 and this is what I opted for. It's sooooooo soft and warm. Great to throw on with a turtleneck and jeans and a pair of boots and the cut looks really girly. Yummy and warm.

I got home and found a package on the porch. Look what was inside! Eeeeeeek! A baby head and some other fab things. A little birdie sent it to me :) Total Dollirious. LOVE LOVE LOVE.

Time to wander out in my studio and make some magic.

WELCOME NOVEMBER!

Hi!

October 31 may have come and gone but it's still Halloween 365 days a year in my studio soooooo onward and upward.

I am working on two things this morning. One is another paperie crown for our SpookyTime Jingles update on the 13th of this month. I will be posting pictures of that soon.

The other thing I am working on is a new jewelry design. Here are the elements I am working with:

I have not designed anything with elements that are orange in quite a while (I know, the horror, right?) so it will be interesting to see how this will play out. The focal piece is HUGE so it's going to be a challenge on how I end up creating a bail for it. My vision for this design will be something that evokes fallish warmth that can be worn with browns, olives, plums, denim, etc. I need to throw in one more color with this so it won't be on orange overload. That I am still pondering on.

Time to watch ~~some~~ a bazillion scary movies today. I call it our annual Scarathon. The Commander and Moi get in our comfies, pile up on the couch with our woobies and watch Horror movies all day long along with eating fabulous food throughout the day. I am not sure what's on the menu yet but more than likely Thanksgiving food. Probably turkey, dressing, rolls, etc....Yum!.

And most of all...........time to NOT end up like this at the end of the day.......

This was exactly how I felt last Halloween at the end of the night
from ingesting too much sugar. Check out Granny on the left.

I laid in a sugar coma with my satin eye mask on for at least 1/2 the day after that.

People, it was not pretty.

We know that won't happen tomorrow. Ever since I had my gastric bypass 10 months ago I can only have a tiny bit of sugar and that's it. Ingesting copious amounts of sugar after a gastric bypass is a HUGE no no. It WILL make you puke (the nutritionists call it 'dumping" but I use the word dump for something else so I just say puke).

I do NOT want to puke. I will avoid that function like the plague. Soooooo, no more feeling like Granny hurling in the trash can.

PLEASE REMEMBER TO CHECK YOUR KID'S CANDY BEFORE THEY EAT IT TONIGHT AND BE ON THE LOOKOUT FOR THE VODKA SOAKED GUMMY BEARS THE NEWS PEEPS HAVE BEEN TALKING ABOUT. YES, I AM YELLING....I just wanted to make sure you were listening :)

I worked on new Blog Banners that are now for sale in our shop over on Etsy (~~shameless~~ creative plug!) so for everyone that's been asking when I was going to have some available they are now ready. Major score on Thursday. I found this fabulous HUGE flower at WalMart for 25 cents. I was giddy when I spotted it. Right smack in the middle of the men's shaving cream section!

I know, WTF? (WTF now stands for William Thomas Franklin according to Vivian!! Tee hee!)

I am one that always fusses about people putting crap down that they have decided not to purchase where it shouldn't be in a store so many thanks to the person that left this in the shaving cream section because now it's mine.

This is my 15 minutes of fame. I won this Giveaway from Shabby Apple via ChinaMommy who tangentially is the funniest person I know besides Talking Trash. I can't tell you how much I am in dire need of clothes right now. This morning my total weight loss is 130 pounds.

My wardrobe has reached Def Con 4. I have to do something about it very soon and whichever one of these new frocks I choose (I can only choose one) will help so at least I will have something to wear that fits. Right now I am rocking yoga pants that are being held up by a safety pin. The Commander thinks I look like a little street urchin. My pants are sagging so much in the back they oddly look like I am wearing a dirty diaper.

I don't have much more to loose. (thank heavens)

These last 7-12 pounds are KICKING. MY. ARSE.

Not that I wish I would conveniently get a case of amoebic dysentery.

That would solve the issue of the last seven pounds.

I just found a couple of spiders in this wee hat I was replacing on the bust....they are now happily outside scurrying off to another home (thanks to the Commander)....I have a rule, no spiders, no squatters and no hoppers in my studio. And yes, I screamed like a girl when I saw them.

I am such a wuss when it comes to things with spindly legs. Blood and guts don't bother me but spindly legs = mass hysteria here.

Commissioned Design Just Finished . . . . .

I just finished this design this morning for my fellow artist and good friend Dani Nelson of SpookyTime Jingles. This skeleton cameo that I set in antiqued brass is one of my favorite cameos. I completed the design with wire wrapped Swarovski crystals, vintage glass beads, antiqued brass chain and black gunmetal chain.

Off to get it ready to ship. *sigh* I miss this beauty already.

Not Another One.. . . . . .

Forewarned is Forearmed. This is not pretty. I am rocking ANOTHER Stye. It started yesterday. *insert colorful language here*. I just got rid of the one on my lower lid and now I have one on my upper lid and it's a whopper. Unfortunately it's getting bigger by the hour.

See? Over there in the corner? Bleh. I practice good lid hygiene, replace my mascara every month, wash my makeup brushes and applicators and scrub my lids to remove excess germs and cellular debris. I am a regular walking WebMD afficionado on Styes. The Commander has already said I am going to the doctor about this even if I have to go kicking and screaming.

Meanie.

OK, he's not all that mean since he baked an apple pie.

From scratch people.

Ever since he retired he's become a regular Iron Chef. He needs his own gig on the Food Network. I think he did it because I am starting to look like Quasimoto or either he's trying to make up for the fly debacle (in case you missed it, click here). Needless to say, it smells totally fabulous at Casa de Chaos.

Shioz Happens

Marcus Brimage is one of my favorite UFC fighters. Yes, I know it's shocking as girlie as I am to follow such a sport but I never said I was normal....only twisted. I'm just sayin'.

I laughed so hard after seeing this video of Brimage being interviewed. Yes, we all have bodily functions we would rather NOT make a debut in public but sometimes, shioz happens. He stepped on a frog during the interview which was funny in itself but the funniest part was when he claimed it and started laughing and smiling like a little kid. Some people's smile are infectious and Brimage's smile definitely is.

I would certainly never miss an opportunity to laugh at myself nor do I miss an opportunity to Blog about it either. I just loved that he claimed it. I am sure his publicist may not have laughed about it unless he/she had a fab sense of humor.

When I was younger my parents sent me to Junior Cotillion. This is an organization where you learn etiquette, ethics, manners and ballroom dancing. Let's just say that my instructor would be mortified at me having a giggle over this. Tangentially, she would be proud that I can still dance a mean Foxtrot though.

Shots and Organic Cukes . . . . .

I did get my flu and pneumonia shot yesterday. I have a slight fever this morning and feel like I have been backed over by a mack truck. Twice. I don't know why I bothered but after getting pneumonia twice this year I thought the shot was necessary. Now, notsomuch.

I got my flu shot in my left arm and the nurse put the pneumonia shot in my left thigh. I am now rocking a welt the size of one of the Commander's small pancakes where the pneumonia shot was and it's hard as a brick. WTF? (F doesn't equal "Flip" anymore....it equals "Fig"....I stole that one from Holly!) It truly feels like someone has wacked me in the thigh with a baseball bat.

I didn't wear my wig out yesterday and just rocked the bald head but I did get all dolled up before I headed out, full warpaint on, cute outfit, jewelry, the whole nine yards. This darling little boy kept looking at me in the waiting room and smiling. He looked at his Mom while pointing to me and said "I want my head like that".....then said "but I don't want to wear lipstick and crayon on my eyes....why does that man have on lipstick and crayon?" Out of the mouths of babes. The funniest comment was to come though. On the other side of the mother must have been the kid's older sister. I have to say the mother was mortified. The girl blurts out "that's a woman, she's got boobs." I really was trying so hard not to laugh because I knew by the look on this woman's face that she was mortified. I love kids and their honesty!!!

Squeeeeeeee! Look what I found in the good grocery store yesterday.....I have a total obsession with creamers. Total yum factor. Also whilst in the grocery store the Commander wanted me to pick up some zucchini. How hard could that be? I came home with organic cucumbers. I don't think he'll be asking me to pick up anything else other than creamer now. Hehehehe.

It was such a beautiful day I had coffee right there under that flag. The peeps on that boat that pulled up to the dock were getting a bit loud and I think they must have been partaking in adult beverages so I didn't stay too long. It got too noisy. This was early afternoon but it's always 5:00 somewhere.

Off to make sure my leg doesn't fall off and to throw on a wig so I don't confuse anyone today.

I know, I know....you are probably a bit shocked to find a recipe here (don't worry, I haven't gone all Betty Crocker/Mary Sunshine on you) since you all know I don't cook nor do I go anywhere near the kitchen. There is a reason I don't do knives either....chainsaws are a WHOLE different ballgame though *giggling as I look at my friend Lisa from STJ*

Here is a great recipe for a Pumpkintini from the Rachel Ray site....this is for you Maija!!!

Ingredients

1 graham cracker, crushed into fine crumbs

Ice cubes

1½ ounces rum (3 tablespoons)

3 tablespoons pumpkin pie filling

1/2 ounce Sortilège maple liqueur (1 tablespoon)

1/2 ounce half-and-half (1 tablespoon)

Directions:

Place the graham cracker crumbs on a small plate. Wet the rim of a chilled martini glass and dip into the crumbs to coat. In a cocktail shaker filled with ice, combine the rum, pumpkin pie filling, maple liqueur and half-and-half. Shake, then strain into the martini glass.

This makes no sense whatsoever but I hate cooking but LOVE watching cooking shows....mostly because I get the Commander to try the stuff I see I like and he actually loves to cook so it's a win win.

I am off to get my pneumonia and flu shots today along with some shopping. I hope my new doctor's office is not totally bootleg and the stores aren't crowded.

I had forgotten to post this a while back. I had to go get the tires rotated on the Mini Hearse. As I waited, I sat and heard an employee of the establishment I was in launch into a LONG discourse on how urgent it is to have your emissions tested because it’s EXTREMELY important that the environment be protected.

Said employee conducting this lecture was standing there chain smoking ciggies and sounding like he was about to hack up a lung. I'm just sayin'.

Ahhhhh, one more thing....I saw my first Christmas commercial on TV yesterday. It's giving me angina.

Back In Surgery Again . . . . .

Poor Madeline was back in surgery again yesterday. (4th time in the Vet's office since last Thursday). Apparently she had a reaction to the type of sutures she had to close her incision from her spay. Poor little thing. She was sedated, all sutures removed and then replaced with a different brand of internal and external sutures and the Commander was able to bring her back home again. Dr. G even allowed the Commander back in the operatory while treating her. This poor dog has been through the mill over the last 8 weeks. This is the same pup that had both eyes operated on within a week's time. She's a little trooper. Me, notsomuch. When it comes to these animals, I collapse into a pile of mush.

I did see something pretty cool this morning out my back door....

It's not everyday you see a hot air balloon out your back door early in the morning. This is on my bucket list of things to do before I take a dirt nap.

Here's to hoping she's now on the mend and I can get back to my usual silly sarcastic cranky self. It's not easy being full of mush.

Back to Casa de Chaos...Vivienne and Madeline got spayed Thursday. Saturday morning we had to take Madeline back to the Vet because she was having some respiratory issues. She got three shots, some different antibiotics and the Commander brought her back home. Two hours later thanks to being alerted by Harlow (who was acting weird and barking at Madeline), I looked over and noticed Madeline's incision was leaking. The Vet was closed by then so thank heavens we had his cell number, called, told him what was going on and he had us rush her over and meet him at his office. Poor thing had a hematoma. After a sedative and some more medical attention (we LOVE you Dr. G!), the Commander brought her back home again. Needless to say, I am running on empty.

I have dark circles under my eyes.

I am doing the Zombie shuffle.

I totally look a hot mess.

Casa de Hospital

I arrived home yesterday and had an uneventful flight home. No puking kids and no little men stepping on frogs (aka passing gas) with curly dirty toenails. (If you missed that post, click here for the deets) Thank you little tiny baby Jesus. I just about knocked the Commander down at the airport when I saw him. Ohhhhhhhh man I missed him. (yep, you can gag now)

Casa de Chaos is now Casa de Recovery Center. Both Vivienne and Madeline went and got spayed this morning. We picked them up late this afternoon and they are just now starting to move around a little bit and whimper. The Commander and I are taking turns sitting on the floor with them and gently petting them to try to calm them a bit. They don't get another dose of pain meds for a couple of hours so hopefully it will allow them to get some peaceful sleep tonight. I know they are glad to be back home and I have seen both of their little tails wag a bit since we picked them up.

I didn't find a new old baby head on my trip but one did arrive while I was gone. It arrived with a dirty diaper and two tattoo's.....(I firmly believe this baby made a stop on the way here and got the tattoo's).

I honestly don't think the head that came on this doll's body was the original one. The head looks a little too big for the body and the plastics were a different color. It doesn't matter anyway because I already took the head off (go figure). Look at this sweet face.....

I do so love my baby heads!

Back in a few after I play Nursie Nursie to Vivienne and Madeline. I also have a ton of mail to open, laundry to do and lots of hugs and kisses to give the fur babies and the Commander since I missed them so. I will be back to my normal cranky self soon. Pinky swear. For now, I have the mush factor going on.

I Am NOT Full of Beans . . . . . (highly debatable)

One fab thing about being home is all the southern cooking. Gawd I miss Hush Puppies! My Sister's neighbor cooked a mess of these for us and we have been picking them up and laughing and "seeing things" in the shapes.

This was mine. A Devil head with a jacked up horn.

*GAG* BIL is making baked beans with bacon in them. *dry heave* Yes, I miss Southern cooking but I do NOT do beans. Period.

Last night and part of today I spent the day in my Sister's studio since I felt the urge to create....I did a little bit of painting, designed some new jewelry and worked in some resin so today was a well rounded day. Of course, we are still celebrating my Happy Cake Day. That's the thing I LOVE about my Birthday...I milk it ALL month. I think everyone should do the same :) The Commander and I will celebrate again when I get back home later this week. I am wondering what he's got planned. I was lurking around peering in things before I left but couldn't find a thing.....pfffffffffft!

I am back to doing what I have been doing best since I arrived. I am parked here on this comfy couch with my woobie and watching CABLE TV. For those of you that know me well know that the Commander and I don't have cable (he thinks it's overrated so Netflix is our poison) so I am like a kid in a candy store when I am somewhere where I can view any kind of cable. Additionally, thank you to my Sister for my pedicure so my feet don't look all jacked up.

Tomorrow morning I am off to walk the beach to look for dead things and hoping a find a baby head if we can find the time to go junkin'. Taken yesterday on my flight from my seat

waaaaaaaaaaaay in the back.

An uneventful flight yesterday was just not meant to be.

#1. I had to sit in the very last row of the plane. That has NEVER happened to me before. We were packed in there like sardines.

#2. We were late leaving. The kid two rows in front of me puked before we even got off the ground causing our flight to be delayed while said puke was being cleaned up. The mother was to thank for this. During the time prior to us boarding, I sat and watched as this mother let the kid scarf down three creme filled donuts. Lovely. The flight I took to to Dallas this summer had a kid on it that puked too. Bleh.

#3. The little man sitting beside me passed gas periodically during the 36 minute flight. Every time he stepped on a frog he would turn to me and say "So Sorry"....then he would turn to the lady on his other side and say "So Sorry"....he also found it necessary to remove his sandals and pick his feet during the flight. His toenails were so long they were curled. I could have been spared that sight. *dry heave*

An 8 hour drive as opposed to a 36 minute flight was sounding good right about 4.25 minutes into the flight. I am hoping my flight back home next week won't have this much bullshank.

This Saturday will be Happy Cake Day to me. The above cake was designed by Alexandria Pellegrino of Cake Opera Co. She is my favorite artist when it comes to cakes. If I could have any kind of birthday cake I wanted for my birthday this Saturday, this would be the one. While the Commander is home minding Casa de Chaos, I am flying off on another adventure to see what kind of frivolity I can get into with my partner in crime. Here's to hoping I don't have to go through that Peek-A-Boo machine at the airport like I did in Nashville where I got stopped, got a pat down and then had to have my hands tested for explosives. I know these peeps are just doing their jobs but I could do without all that shioz.

Speaking of shioz.....if you got an email from me saying I was in England, had been robbed and needed money to get home, I assure you I am still at Casa de Chaos. Some iggie hacked my Facebook Page and sent out emails to some of my contacts and I also had a wall full of porn links. Someone's parents out there must be really proud. I took down my Facebook Page temporarily. What a nightmare.

Yesterday I had the pleasure of going to PJ's house for lunch and we had a fabulous time. I could not believe that we talked non-stop for 6 hours. Two magpies we were! Many thanks to The Source for the lovely lunch we had. His chicken salad rocks big time! Thank you both again for having me to your home for lunch :) xo

I pray for a quiet flight home without all the nonsense I experienced here. If there are no screaming and puking kids, I am good to go.

p.s. Weight loss update....as of this morning I have lost 120.5 pounds (I still have to pinch myself...one hundred and twenty and a half pounds!) I had to get in that extra 1/2 pound. Every bit counts!!

For new visitors to my Blog, I am LuLu Kellogg and welcome! For our friends across the pond, I have posted a little early since I know it's already Saturday for some of you.

Practical Magic has been one of my favorite movies since I first watched it back in 1998. If you know your trivia, Griffin Dunne directed this movie....the same Griffin Dunne that appeared opposite Madonna in Who's That Girl back in 1987. I truly fell in love with him in that movie and just knew that Practical Magic was going to be wonderful when I found out he was directing this movie.

The movie inspired the following . . . . .

"Mom, I'm worried about Antonia. Did you know that she puts on her mouse ears and drives around town, all liquored up, NAKED? "

(The above quote inspired me to Photoshop my head into this collage I created.....yes, that truly is Moi with my mouse ears on at Disney earlier this year!)

All the lovely shades of green in the movie inspired this collage I created with different images. Great place to rest just in case you have a few too many Midnight Margaritas. Tee hee!

I Don't Have Time For Algorithms Right Now . . . . .

Here is the bad arse clock I finished right before the Soiree. It's now in my foyer and looks awesome.

This was a custom crown I created and couldn't show the picture of prior to the Soiree since it's new owner was not seeing it until I delivered it to her....

Not that I have time to calculate algorithms for anything but it seems like everyone wants something right now and Casa de Chaos is in full swing....Dog # 2 has been puking (two nights in a row now), Dogs #6 & #7, the new puppies, keep pooing in my studio even after being taken out every 30-45 minutes (thank you little baby Jesus for linoleum), Dog #1 was walking behind me and stepped on the back of my heel and cut a 1 inch gash in my skin that bled like a mofo, The Commander's mask on his CPAP machine keeps breaking the seal around his nose and mouth from rolling over on his side at night which causes him to snore like a freight train and sound like an old boiler getting ready to blow, the flies hitching a ride on all the dogs into my house are so large around here that you could put a saddle on them and ride them (not to mention the mosquitoes too), the neighborhood kids mouths all need to be washed out with lye soap for the filth coming out of their vile openings (people, we are talking about kids that are 4-8 years old....where are they hearing this crap????), the pool needs closing up, groceries need to be bought, 72,000 pieces of laundry need to be done, thank you notes need to be written, I need some new pants since the ones I am wearing right now are being held up by a safety pin and make me look like I am wearing a dirty diaper (I have now lost 118 pounds and have 17 more to go), etc.....soooooo it's all not all Mary Sunshine up in here but in the famous words of Frank Sinatra, That's Life . . .

Casa de Chaos is totally bootleg at the moment. Bleh.

I will be back when I have taken care of these 72,000 things.

Soiree Post II, The After Party in the Poconos . . . .

After the Soiree when we were all packed up we headed back to the hotel to wait for the party van to pick us all up and head up into the Pocono Mountains to East Stroudsburg to Bill Frazetta's Frazetta's Fantasy Costume Showroom and Horror Bar. The van was abuzz with all kinds of chattering on the ride up. It sounded like a Bee Hive up in there. Dani thought of everything....snacks, bottled water and even a blanket for Moi who was about to freeze (and no, I was not scantily dressed...well, in my mind I was..LOL....I was just cold!) I may have lost 118 pounds but I am still not brave enough to dress like a hot mess *snort*

This Soiree was the most fun I have ever hand, hands down. It's going to take a lot to top this trip. I am exhausted but in a good way. We didn't get back to the hotel until 3:15am Sunday morning. Wendy and myself just collapsed in our beds and conked out for about 6 hours and then it was time for me to scoot on home so I could see what damage I had done to my knee. Too bad I couldn't have told you guys I did a back flip off the bar and that is what caused my hyper-extension of a ligament behind my left knee! I should have though....no one would have been the wiser, right?

For a moment, I felt like the Pumpkin Queen :)

I am back albeit with a gimpy leg but more on that later.....I have more important things to talk about so let's chat.......

What a whirlwind these last couple of weeks have been. The Soiree was amazing and we had the most wonderful fans, friends and collectors come out to support our art. Getting to meet these people was just the best. Even though there was flooding in Bucks County in different areas, traffic was rerouted and people were able to find their way to the venue.

The first night I scooted over to Dani and Mike's house in New Jersey to have dinner. We had pumpkin chilli that was to die for. I was in heaven since I am a total pumpkin head. Dani showed us around her studio which was so magical and wonderful....I was in heaven......look at the color of her walls in her studio....ahhhhhhhh!

The next day it was time to set up for the Artist Meet and Greet at our Venue. We had a great turn out that evening. The tickets for that night were sold out prior to the Meet and Greet.

I was so busy I forgot to have someone take my pic in my Meet and Greet attire so I scooted in the Loo and did a quick self pic! My gorgeous hat was designed by Julie Ferioli at Mermaiden Creations. I have an entire collection of her hats. I forgot my shoes to go with my outfit and thank heavens Wendy and I wear the same size shoe and she was so gracious to lend me a pair of shoes to go with my outfit....Wendy, what would I do without you?

Saturday morning it was time for the Soiree to open and people were already lined up outside waiting to get in. It was awesome. The doors opened promptly at 10am and art began flying off our show tables. I was so thrilled that my sweet friend Suze Weinberg and her darling husband Lenny came to the show. Suze and I met in Dallas, TX earlier this year and became instant friends. I just love her to pieces. They came via motorcycle and bless their hearts, it started raining when they were leaving and they had to ride home in the rain!

Wendy and Moi stayed at the Hampton Inn in Yardley, PA. I am assuming that the ladder they left outside our hotel window was for our benefit.....you know, just in case we had a fire...right? It sure was a L O N G way to the ground....*snort*

The Soiree was over at 3PM and we all packed up and headed back to the hotel to wait for the party van to arrive to take us up into the Poconos to East Stroudsburg to Bill Frazetta's Horror Bar. Bill is the son of Frank Frazetta, one of the greatest American fantasy and science fiction artists of all time. Bill is also one of SpookyTime Jingles biggest supporters and so graciously hosted our after party on Saturday evening in his Horror Bar on the third floor of Frazetta's Fantasy Costumes.

Next up will be the photos of the after party in the Horror Bar....believe me, you don't want to miss that posting.....I literally had my mouth hanging open most the night in wonderment of everything.......

I am not sure why it is that every time I go somewhere I either get sick or have a little mishap and this trip was no different. I hyper extended a ligament behind my left knee when I was packing up. Too bad I didn't do it dancing on the bar or something a little more interesting so I could have a great story for the gimpy leg.

Dear Irene . . . . .

Me calling my Sister at O' Crack Thirty Saturday to see how they made out after Irene paid them a visit on the coast of NC...

Me: "Hey! How are you guys making out? I know it's headed our way but I wanted to check and see how you are doing?"

My Sister: "I am still hanging on to the tail of a flying monkey but the ruby slippers are gone."

She cracks me up. Period.

Tangentially, we are doing OK here albeit a little damp and soggy and the Garden Club won't be giving us "Yard of The Month" this month. There is debris everywhere and a bajillion leaves stuck to everything. Our roof is now leaking. Yippee Skippy though that our power is now on (Delmarva Power Rocks). However....our pool now looks like the Creature from The Black Lagoon habitates in there....I will be back in a few days after we clean up all this mess. I thought I would write a quick note to that nasty Irene that just wreaked havoc at Casa de Chaos......

Dear Hurricane Irene:

Thank you for the 72,000 gallons of rain you dumped on us.

Thank you for all the water you tucked in my basement that can now be used as a hot tub.

Thank you for the 72,000 gallons of water we had to drain out of our pool (and waste) so our backyard would not become an Olympic Sized Swimming Pool. With all the water we had in our back yard I probably could have done a back flip off the rim of the basketball goal and not hurt myself.

Thank you for all the new leaks in our roof which we just had repaired last fall and which will now cost us $72,000 to repair.

Thank you for the leak you left in my studio powder room so that now I have to climb 72,000 stairs daily when I need to go to the Loo until the Commander can rip the BRAND NEW molding off from around the window to see where said leak is coming from. I refuse to sit on the throne whilst water is dripping on my little bald head.

Ohhhhhh yea....thanks EVER so much for roaring up in my hood when I am trying to housebreak two new puppies who think it's perfectly normal to frolic about in the back yard during 72,000 mile an hour winds and blinding rain while I am in soaking wet clothes, holding an umbrella that has folded all the way back and then said puppies both come in and promptly wee and poo on my new kitchen floor.

You suck eggs.

Still Waiting . . . .

Poor Madeline was back in the Vet's office again on Wednesday. We noticed the second eye she had operated on two weeks ago had something stuck to her eyeball. Of all things, it was a tiny, tiny leaf and it has caused her to have a corneal ulceration. *sigh* She now has an arsenal of medications to get her well.

Miss Irene has not made her presence known here yet. I am sure she will arrive today. We have plenty of food for the Pups and are prepared in case we loose power, etc. Here's to hoping and praying this storm looses momentum before it arrives. I will be hoping and praying for all East Coasters to be safe and sound.

I may very well be on the Ark clutching my all my Halloween ornaments, my Caffeine Free Diet Pepsi and my lip gloss collection.

Earthquake and Ummmmmmm, ok.......

Soooooo, I get a comment this morning from someone that said they can't follow my Blog anymore because liking Halloween is letting evil into my life and it wasn't good to worship the devil. Hmmmmmmmm, never heard that one before. First off, I don't worship the devil. I realize that not everyone is a Halloween Head like I am. It's ok. Of all the friends I have, some don't get my love of anything Halloween but they love me anyway. This was the same reader that got upset because I altered a baby doll head. I honestly don't want to offend anyone and so it's like what do you say? I'm thinking if you don't enjoy the content of some one's Blog and what they have to offer, don't read it. Problem solved. I know that for me, I enjoy a gamut of Blogs and I love diversity. OK, on to more interesting matters.......

Yesterday afternoon at 1:51pm I was sitting in my studio working and all of a sudden there was a low rumble (which I thought was a truck going by) and then the chandeliers in my studio started swinging back and forth. My baby heads started falling off a shelf behind me onto the floor along with a treat box. I looked out the window and the water in our pool was sloshing up and over the sides. I ran into the main part of the house, looked in my foyer and the chandeliers in the foyer were swinging too. The whole house was shaking and I was totally freaked out. I ran out the back door to yell at the Commander who was totally oblivious to the earthquake going on! He was cutting the grass so he had no idea what was going on. I guess he saw the look of horror on my face when I pointed to the water sloshing out of the pool and he promptly cut the motor to the lawn mower. I don't know how you peeps in CA deal with these things. The news reported this morning that this was the largest one we have had on the east coast since WWII. Who would have thought? That was our excitement for yesterday. Here's to hoping that today is quiet and still.

And the Commander thought I was being a drama queen.....*eyeroll*

Random Stuff That You May or May Not Be Interested In

Squeeeeeee! Lookie! I don't even partake in adult bevvie's however.....I may have to make an exception. Pumpkin, brown sugar and nutmeg....oh my!! I just tried to order some from Mid Valley Wine and Liquor out of NY and they don't ship to my state! Seriously? WTF??? (the "F" stands for Flip just in case you are wondering if I have a case of the potty mouth). Guess what I will be on the hunt for now but not in NY.

Here is a little list of questions I borrowed from one of my favorite Blogs, In My Mind It's Always Funny. I love this girl. She's real and I adore her sense of humor. I love funny peeps. Hands down. OK, on to answering these questions......

1. Using what's in your frig right now what sort of meal would you be able to make for guests who are knocking at the front door this very minute?

Sugar free vanilla pudding, Diet Pepsi, eggs and turkey bacon. Not necessarily in that order. Hey, don't look at me.... I don't do the grocery shopping (nor do I cook). The Commander is running behind this week.

2. What is something about yourself that you hope will change but that probably never will?

I wish I was not afraid of Hoppers. I can look at blood and guts but Hoppers give me the willies. (Hoppers = things with spindly legs that jump)

3. What's something about yourself that you hope will never change?

My sense of humor.

4. Do you usually send serious or funny greeting cards? Why?

Both, depends on the situation. That's how I roll.

5. Bird watching, shell gathering, or star gazing- your choice for whiling away the hours?

Shell gathering as long as there are a few dead things along the way that I can poke with a stick.

6. Do you double or triple check things? If so, what?

Myself. I don't want to leave the house looking like a hot mess.

7. What's your favorite place for people watching?

Anywhere I go....I seem to see a little bit of everything no matter where I am. Anywhere is great for people watching. You wouldn't believe the things I have seen people doing in their cars...*raising eyebrows* It's called make your own party wherever you go.

I never was a Facebook person. I just didn't "get it". I honestly didn't want to create a Facebook page but realized I needed to for my fan and customer base for SpookyTime Jingles. I have sold 6 of my crowns just from posting them on Facebook within the last week. I pink puffy heart Facebook. It also gives me a way to connect with my friends that don't have Blogs and I love seeing what everyone else is up to.

Now I am realizing what a great tool Facebook is for networking and selling. My sales have gone up tremendously since creating my page.

What are your feelings on Facebook? If you are an artist, do you feel it's helped you with getting your work seen and sold? I have had a couple of wackadoos contact me with inappropriate gestures via a Friend Request so that is the only thing I don't like about it. I just hit the iggie button.

I got all excited when I saw a package on my front porch from Round Top, TX.... (I pink puffy heart the State of Texas big time)

Well, when I flipped it over and saw the back of it I has a big old scowl on my face. I guess someone at UPS decided to dance on my package. Look at the shoe prints on this thing (not just one print mind you).......*shaking my head* Perhaps this unknown person was rehearsing for Riverdance......

At least my new tank that was inside and was unscathed.....

Those of you that know me well know that I am one of the most laid back people you will ever meet but when something chaps my hide, watch out. I definitely made history today after placing a call to UPS about this package.

I was not well behaved either so the shirt fit.
